Monkey Business

I am distraught to see that no one is posting. Gracie, I friended Will & Chun on Facebook. I was nervous that they wouldn't accept me but they did. Pshew! I was home today and was desperate for something to watch....ended up on Rachael Ray. How do moms deal with preteen girls and their hysteria over a girl who is totally annoying and whose father just sadly gets spots to promote his new CD b/c of his daughter. Ugh

Has Facebook completely killed our Livejouranl! That is so sad.

You girls will be proud of me. I am going to be workig 4 days a week in the office through the end of the year. I've committed to somehow getting almost the same amount of work done but at least I have another day home with Leah. Plus I will work 7-5 in the office. We'll see how that works. I am dreading going back already but between those hours and Grandma being her babysitter my guilt is somewhat alleviated.

Anyway, what's going on with everyone else? (Or do I need to go to Facebook to find out :) ).

Sorry guys! I am embarassed that I didn't call anyone directly. I had very good intentions but things got kind of hectic with all of the family coming in every couple of minutes and I don't think I have not had visitors of some sort in the room since she was born. The only time I have is 2 and 3 am and I have plenty of time then but didn't think you'd appreciate calls :). (Although I guess I could call Gracie but I think even she's coming over to East Coast time soon if she hasn't already.

I will try to make some calls today and tomorrow but Leah is so great! She is so sweet and I can't believe how good I feel! I am sure it is still the high of the excitement but I am not overlyh tired and haven't taken any pain medication since day 3.

The delivery was very quick. I went in around 9:30 pm on Tuesday and she was born at 5:30 on Wednesday morning as Beth said. I went to work and had some twinges so I left at 6 and told Brian he should go check his bag and make sure that he had everything he wanted. I started wrapping Christmas presents to pass the time and told him maybe we should start timing and within half an hour they were 4 minutes apart! So we went in and they told me to tell everyone to expect to come visit the next afternoon and at 1 am they told us that we should call everyone back b/c they thought she would come any time then. It was pretty crazy! Short of the 10 minutes of pushing which was truly NOT fun it was not too bad. Epidurals are the best thing that was ever invented in modern medicine! Wow!

When she came out I was shocked at the black hair and still can't figure out who the heck she looks like. You kind of think it will be a little you but not in this case! She has more hair than her daddy. Brian has been awesome and spent as much time with breastfeeding as I did. Poor guy got exposed to so much more than he could ever have imagined. He really is truly in love and could not be a more attentive daddy. We are very lucky.

I'll stop rambling now. I can't wait for her to meet you guys!

Roberta & Beth know how to throw a party! The shower was awesome! They really did a great job and I was so thrilled that Gracie came all that way! Kelly & Heather, I wish you could have been there but I totlaly understand and it was a whirlwind.

I will do my best to write things down. I am certainly not the best at that but I really do have good intentions and having those great journals will inspire me.

6 more weeks!!! Ahh...

Well it has been quite a day. We gave my car to Brian's brother and Brian got a new car which he is on cloud nine over. Surprisingly, another Infiniti. A G35S (Brian always makes sur that I add the "S" which stands for sport). It is his first new car. He is so excited!
AND we rented the condo today. Thank goodness! Alison moved out a month ago and footing the bill sucked! I am so relieved!

I watched Jon & Kate Plus 8 last nigth and that little Leah is cute! I would say I hope that our baby is so cute but since we are not part Asian I doubt that would be the case. Thanks for the votes. The only person I didn't hear from was Heather.

Kelly, where are those pictures?

I figure by the time you read this it will actually be your birthday. I hope you do something fun. Maybe Kelly will have her baby tomorrow and it will have the same birthday as you. Kelly, I'm sure you'd be fine with that. I'm sure you must be ready.

Berta, is David in first grade this year? Wow, time flies! Kelly, Ryan isn't old enough for kindergarten yet is he?

Heather, how's 18th grade? Is that the one that you're in now?

All of the postings are falling off b/c it has been so long.

Well, I have an announcement to make to some of you. The Scullys are adding to the brood (not with dogs this time either). Sorry, I tried to call you all but you know me. With my great telephone skills the kid will be driving by the time I tell everyone.

We are expecting a baby girl on December 18 (Christmas ugh) but we are thrilled nonetheless. We waited quite a while to tell anyone because we were paranoid about something happening. I had an ultrasound last week and found out it was a girl and that she is completely healthy thus far.

So Kelly, Roberta and I will all have little ones within a year of each other. I am excited about that.

My sister is getting married on Saturday and I have to squeeze into the bridesmaid's dress. It is so tight I might have to wear a different dress to the reception b/c it is too late to change now and I had quite the belly growth spurt in the last week or so.

I can't think of anything else to tell you. I'm happy to have some non-boring news to post finally. Kelly, I hope you're feeling ok.

Well girls.... I must say that I am impressed! I just got on and had to spend a full 15 minutes catching up on all of the postings!

Heather, thanks for giving us the kick start we needed to get back into the Livejournaling process. I agree. We do need to get together. The next couple of weeks are crazy but let's see if we can at least go to dinner or have you over to see the new house that is not so new any more.

Brian and I went to NY this past weekend. It was so much fun! I had never really gotten to go. Kelly, I don't know how you lived there with a baby! I am impressed.

Beth - your mom will be in my prayers. She really is a fighter and as Roberta said, an amazing woman (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree Beth).

Gracie - I think I will be heading your way in early August. The woman who I passed those CA jobs on to is leaving the firm so I'm back on the case and I think the week of August 4 will be in San Fran. I hope you'll be around so that I can see you.

I love all of this writing! Everyone keep it up. I promise to do my share. I'll try to do some interesting things so I have something to say!

Wow....I fell off the wagon with checking in and I was afraid there would be no entries. Imagine my surprise! Welcome back Heather. Beth, I'll keep you in my prayers...Kelly, you and Frank too. Roberta, I need to see some more Emily pictures.

Gracie...write something about what's going on with you! For those of us that feel that the phone will bite us this is the only chance to find out what is going on with everyone.

I am in Dallas right now and heading home tomorrow. We were in New Mexico last weekend for my brother in law's college graduation (I really liked saying I had a brother in law in college. It made me feel young).

Alison's wedding is only 6 weeks away. It is so much fun! I can't wait.

What's happening to us? Let's get back on the ball here. I can't believe we have NO entries!

We had a nice weekend here in FL. Roberta & Steven were nice enough to come to my sister's cookout and we went to Tanner's afterwards (of course we were about 3 hours too early to actually see anyone our own age). Most of the patrons at that time had silver hair.

I'm here in Ocala, FL with the heat on! It is going to get down in the 30's tonight here! I can't believe it.

I am hopefully going to see Beth & Roberta on Wednesday night in Clermont. It is great to be able to see them.

What's up with everyone else?

Well as the most boring one of the crew I will try to come up with something interesting. Oh yeah, my sister got engaged officially. The wedding is July 19 (your birthday Roberta)...well obviously I guess you already knew that was your birthday).

Also, I am coming to FL again WH people. Starting March 31 I will be down for the week and then the following week I'm coming down and staying through that weekend. Any chance of some of you other out of towners coming in and making it a girls' weekend? Just thought I'd give it a shot!

Beth...you better hold Emily a lot because I'm going to hog her when I come visit (I've got to take advantage while I can still lift her. At this rate by the next time I come down she'll be too heavy to lift!).

Alright...2 times in a row for me with no one else checking in? What's going on?

It was so nice to see everyone in Florida! Baby Emily is so cute! I appreciate Beth share her with me. David is so cute and so good. He kicked Brian's butt in bowling on the Wii which was the funniest thing ever. He'd be bouncing around and they'd tell him it was his turn and it didn't look like he was even looking at the tv and then he'd bowl a strike.

Have a great time in Vegas, Kelly. You guys always do so I'm sure you'll have some stories when you get back.

I just got back from a conference in Phoenix. I had dinner with Scott from college. It was so great to see him and we swore that we would get our college group together for a reunion. We'll see. It would be great if there were 2 reunions this summmer (let's figure out a way).

I shouldn't admit that I'm on this at 11:42 on New Year's but I wanted to check in and see what was going on. I think your idea for a trip to Atlanta is great Kelly. I would love to have everyone here.

Love was awesome....I bet any of the Cirque de Soleil's are awesome. The Wynn is beautiful also. I don't have any great suggestions. Grace & Beth are the Vegas experts.

I met Baby Emily this weekend. She is so sweet!

For real, how can we all get together again? Atlanta is great but if we need to travel.... Let's figure out a way.

I hope everybody had a very Merry Christmas! What's everybody doing for New Year's?

I can't believe you stood in line all night! Roberta...you are going to have a baby tomorrow! I can't believe you did that the week before giving birth. You'll do anything to get more tv's won't you?

I had a nice Thanksgiving with the family. I do miss going to FL but it is nice to have a day to recover after the family goes.

On to the first annual combined Scully/Baxter in-law Christmas at our house. We'll see how that goes. There will be 11 of us this year for Christmas dinner.

Beth...does Bernie want to come cook for us? I have no problem with that. Brian is actually a great turkey cooker except for the fact that every year we time the turkey wrong and have to put everything back in the oven to reheat because we're off by at least an hour. Oh well. I never professed to be a cook and my family knows better than to complain about it.

We missed you guys, Heather & Kelly. We got to see Beth's super cute house and Riley and David put on quite a show! They were so cute! It was so nice to see you guys. I hope that we can all get together soon.

What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?

Thanks guys! I certainly can't lecture anyone for being late on a birthday or phone call. I really appreciate all of the birthday wishes!

We went to one of my favorite restaurants of all times and I got a fun new haircut (it's really not all that different) for my birthday.

Getting old is pretty boring. I got backyard lighting for my birthday which is the most exciting thing ever to me but I know most girls would want jewelry or something.

Brian's parents came to town late on the night of my birthday and closed on their house here in Atlanta. It is so exciting and the house is beautiful. His mom and I are going furniture shopping tomorrow.

It is only a matter of time until Jeff & Judy can't stand it anymore. We now have holiday issues galore. His parents are fine but mine do not like to share their babies so it will be interesting.

Beth, can you send me one of those Southern Living catalogs or can I go online? I got some Christmas gifts from that last year and would love to give you the commission.

So I was talking to my sister today...she moved to a new school this year. There must be 500 schools in the Atlanta area. Anyway...she moved to a school north of me and I knew it was near Heather's new abode. She is teaching fifth grade and I told her to keep her eye out for a boy named Gavin b/c I knew that they were up in that area.

Well, lo and behold she called me tonight and said there was a fifth grader that she'd come across named Gavin Buker....sure enough...Lisa's little boy. Isn't that funny? Talk about small world.
